Congressman Flood’s Thanksgiving Statement

November 27, 2024

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood released a recorded statement ahead of Thanksgiving, which will be observed November 28, 2024.

Video of his remarks can be found by clicking here. News outlets are welcome to use the footage for their reporting purposes. The full text of the remarks is provided below.

This week, across our great state, Nebraskans are gathering to celebrate and give thanks. Families and friends are coming together, carrying out traditions that have been passed down through generations: carving turkeys, baking pies, watching football, and, of course, putting up Christmas decorations after enjoying a traditional Thanksgiving feast.

Thanksgiving is a time to express gratitude for what God has given to us and to make new memories together. It’s also a time for reflection… as we sit around our tables surrounded by those we love. Let’s take a moment to lift up in prayer the men and women who are serving in our Armed Forces around the world protecting our freedoms.

This past year has been an historic one, bringing with it many changes that have impacted people across every corner of our nation. Through it all, we have come together as communities, weathered challenges, and shown great resilience in spite of natural disasters, economic hardship, and uncertainty around the world.

Later, on Friday, like many of you, I’ll be cheering on our Cornhuskers as they face off against Iowa in the annual Heroes Game.

However you are planning to celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to wish you and your family a very happy and restful holiday. May God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America.
