Congressman Flood's Statement on Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI's Passing

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood issued a statement following news that Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI had passed away.
“Benedict XVI stands out as one of the most consequential figures of the last 100 years for many reasons: He was a prolific writer, brilliant theologian, and above all a man who showed the world through his own living witness how to better love and follow Jesus Christ. From serving as an advisor at Vatican II to leading the effort to compile the 1992 Catechism of the Catholic Church, he brought the Gospel message into a modern culture pushing back on what he identified as a ‘dictatorship of relativism.’ Mandi and I join fellow Catholics around the world in mourning his passing and celebrating his legacy, which will continue to strengthen the faith of countless millions for generations to come.”
