Congressman Flood’s Presidents’ Day Statement
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood issued a statement ahead of Presidents’ Day, which is observed Monday, February 19th.
“Through the years, American presidential leadership has developed as a category of statecraft that’s studied in its own right. On Presidents’ Day, we especially honor and celebrate two of America’s greatest statesmen: Lincoln and Reagan. They exhibited many admirable qualities, but one commonality in particular links them. These two presidents brought America through two of the darkest chapters in our almost 250-year-old history – the Civil War and Cold War, respectively. As we face new challenges today, America, once again, needs this kind of extraordinary leadership to help us navigate domestic divisions and complex international affairs.”
