Friends and fellow Nebraskans, as we enter this season, I want to take a moment to briefly reflect on the true meaning of Christmas.
More than two thousand years ago, Jesus Christ was born, wrapped in swaddling clothes, and laid in a manger.
His birth was announced to shepherds.
It was a humble beginning for the Savior of the world – an unexpected one that shattered the expectation of some that the Messiah would be a politically powerful figure.
Two millennia later, the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus continues to offer hope, grace, and salvation.
As we gather with family and friends to celebrate Christmas, let’s give thanks for what we’ve received this year.
We are richly blessed with a country in which we are free to live, work, and raise a family.
If you’re traveling throughout the holidays, please be sure to watch the weather closely, buckle up, and have fun celebrating!
From my family to yours, have a very blessed Christmas and a safe holiday journey.
