Congressman Flood Votes to Impeach Biden’s Failed Homeland Security Secretary

February 13, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Mike Flood issued a statement following a vote to impeach U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

“Secretary Mayorkas has not only failed to address President Biden’s border crisis, but he has also actively made it worse. From reinstating catch and release to cutting razor wire along the border, Mayorkas has invited millions from around the world to enter America illegally. The decision to impeach Secretary Mayorkas does not come lightly. Today’s vote comes after a nearly year-long investigation by the House Committee on Homeland Security. I’ve seen the impact of his failed leadership firsthand on my two trips to the border – most recently just last month. Secretary Mayorkas’ decision to open our border to the world has turned every community in this nation into a border town. I strongly urge the Senate to proceed with prosecution and to remove Mayorkas swiftly.”

Congressman Flood voted for two articles of impeachment. Article I charges Secretary Mayorkas with Willful and Systemic Refusal to Comply with the Law. Article II charges him with Breach of Public Trust.
