Congressman Flood Thanks Department of Defense for Addressing Pharmacy Enrollment Issue

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Mike Flood issued a statement following news that Express Scripts, the Department of Defense’s (DoD) pharmacy benefit manager for TRICARE, has announced they will temporarily re-open the enrollment period for certain pharmacies. Previously, Nebraska Medicine expressed its interest to remain in-network, but was denied by Express Scripts which cited their enrollment deadline policies.
“Local pharmacies are important to maintaining quality care and access to healthcare for our veterans,” said Congressman Flood. “It’s critical that networks serving our veterans remain as broad as possible. I am pleased to see Express Scripts is re-opening their enrollment period. This is the right decision. Re-opening enrollment will help ensure our veterans have access to a wider range of healthcare options, including their local providers.”
Congressman Flood has previously written the DoD on this matter. A copy of his letter can be found here.
Congressman Flood is a member of the Committee on House Oversight and Reform as well as the Committee on Small Business.
