Congressman Flood Supports the SBIR and SBTT Extension Act

September 29, 2022

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Mike Flood recently spoke in support of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Extension Act on the House floor. While these programs had a long and successful history, more recently the SBIR was abused by bad actors from China. This bill put guardrails on the program to prevent theft from China and brings the SBIR back to its original purpose, to spur innovation and unlock the ingenuity of American small businesses.

“This bill implements strong safeguards against the influence of China or other foreign actors, and it creates new reporting requirements for these programs that will ensure taxpayer dollars are properly used,” Congressman Flood said, “With these changes to the program, we can make the SBIR and STTR stronger and more accessible for entrepreneurs in Nebraska and across the country.”
