Congressman Flood Seeks Federal Support for Multiple Lincoln Area Projects

April 26, 2023

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood announced he had requested funding for several Lincoln area projects. The Congressman’s funding requests come as a part of the submission process for Community Project Funding (CPF), a congressionally directed spending program for projects with broad community support.

“The Community Project Funding program allows Members of Congress to directly connect community-supported projects with federal funding,” said Congressman Flood. “Most often, grant applicants must apply to federal agencies and compete against requests from bigger states. CPF gives communities across the First Congressional District another opportunity to receive the support we need to build the infrastructure and research facilities necessary for the future.”

Lincoln-area projects under consideration include:

  • USDA Agricultural Research Service in Lincoln: $25 million
  • Wastewater Treatment Facility in Hickman: $2,028,045
  • Downtown Corridors Project in Lincoln: $4 million
  • Lancaster County Ag Society “Ag Tech Hub” Facility Modernization Planning in Lincoln: $400,000
  • Fletcher Avenue Grading and Resurfacing in Lancaster County: $6.4 million
  • Randolph Street Rehabilitation in Lincoln: $3.6 million

The office elected to accept submissions from municipalities, counties, and educational institutions. Projects were submitted to the Office of Congressman Mike Flood from across Nebraska’s First Congressional District. Once submitted, the office reviewed the requests before selecting submissions to the appropriate Appropriations Subcommittee. All projects received by the office were found to be eligible and were submitted.
