Congressman Flood Responds to President Biden’s State of the Union Address

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tonight, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood issued a recorded statement following President Biden’s State of the Union Address.

As President Biden delivers his fourth State of the Union, this is a good opportunity for us to reflect on his record.
When he took office, inflation was at 1.9%, since then, inflation skyrocketed 17.9%.
Thanks to his failed economic agenda, Americans are spending $12,000 more annually just to buy the same things they were when he took office.
Now, President Biden is shifting the blame for soaring prices using the made-up term “shrinkflation.”
Let’s be clear, job creators aren’t to blame for shrinking product sizes. It’s a natural consequence of liberal fiscal policy that raised prices for producers and consumers.
House Republicans have been working to curb Biden’s inflation and out of control spending. During this Congress, we passed the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act and the Fiscal Responsibility Act, which will reduce the deficit by more than $2 trillion.
The president has also failed to address the crisis his policies and rhetoric have created on our southern border. Millions of people have broken the law to enter the U.S. since he took office.
While Biden has failed to secure the border, House Republicans passed the strongest border security bill in history. If the president would simply sign the Secure the Border Act into law, it would help save lives and bring his crisis to an end.
Biden’s policies are also hurting America’s farmers and ranchers. Despite opposition, he’s pursued his 30 by 30 land grab. His administration continues to push for radical environmental policies. Just this week, his Securities and Exchange Commission finalized a new rule requiring vast disclosures that will be used to pursue anti-agriculture policies.
House Republicans have not been sitting idly by. Throughout this Congress, we have been working to push back on Biden’s liberal agenda.
We made a promise to America to build an economy that is strong, a nation that is safe, a future built on freedom, and to hold the government accountable, and we will keep that promise.
May God bless you, and may God bless the United States of America.
