Congressman Flood: House Republicans Stopping Biden’s Overspending

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood issued a statement following the release of President Joe Biden’s $7.3 trillion budget plan.
“At a time when he should be reigning in federal spending, President Biden’s new budget request includes almost 10% more in spending than last year’s – outstripping both inflation and wage growth for 2023,” said Congressman Flood. “Why is it so expensive? It’s chock full of gifts to liberal special interest groups, including Green New Deal activists. For example, his budget proposes to marshal an army of 50,000 climate warriors while spending millions to destabilize our nation’s energy security. And he wants to pay for it with $5 trillion in new taxes that would stymy job and wage growth for working Americans. House Republicans negotiated a deal last year that holds the line on spending, and we’ll keep fighting to stop President Biden’s plans to overspend again this year.”
