Congressman Flood Celebrates House Passage of the Ratepayer Protection Act

September 17, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C.   Congressman Mike Flood released the following statement celebrating the House passage of the bipartisan Ratepayer Protection Act. Congressman Flood is a co-sponsor the bill, which helps prevent data center energy costs from being pass along to consumers.

“Congress has a responsibility to ensure consumers have commonsense protections from artificial intelligence without putting the brakes on American innovation. I’m happy to cosponsor the bipartisan Ratepayer Protection Act, and I am glad to see it pass the House,” said Congressman Flood. “This legislation will protect our energy grid and address the growing costs data centers can place on hardworking families and small businesses. No Nebraska ratepayer should subsidize a Big Tech company's expansion.”
