Congressman Flood: 2026 Congressional Art Competition Theme Focused on America’s 250th Anniversary

February 3, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood announced that submissions are now open for the 2026 Congressional Art Competition in Nebraska’s First Congressional District. The competition is hosted annually by congressional offices across the country to recognize and celebrate student artists from their district.

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students who reside in Nebraska’s First District. The winning entry will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol alongside artwork from students nationwide. Selected runner-up pieces will be displayed in Congressman Flood’s Washington, D.C. office or his Lincoln district office.

“Each year, I am impressed by the creativity and talent of Nebraska’s young artists,” said Congressman Flood. “It is a privilege to highlight their work and to display the best of the best in our nation’s Capitol. I look forward to seeing this year’s submissions as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.”

All submissions will be reviewed and evaluated by an independent panel of art professionals. The deadline for submissions is March 27, 2026. More information about the 2026 Congressional Art Competition can be found here. While artwork highlighting America’s 250th Anniversary are highly encouraged, submissions can be focused on any subject.
