Rep. Flood Thanks Chief Justice Heavican for His Outstanding Service to Nebraska

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood issued a statement following news that Nebraska Supreme Court Chief Justice Mike Heavican planned to step down later this year.

“Chief Justice Heavican has delivered exemplary service for the people of Nebraska over almost two decades at the head of Nebraska’s Supreme Court and Judicial Branch. Through the years, he has preserved the independence of our judiciary while collaborating with the state’s leaders to strengthen and expand its engagement with the public. During my time as Speaker of the Unicameral, it was a great honor to work with the Chief Justice to establish the ‘State of the Judiciary’ address that is now an annual event, providing critical updates to state legislators and the people of Nebraska every year. Mandi and I send our best wishes to Chief Heavican and wish him well as he starts this next chapter.”
