The Last Full Measure: From America's Heartland to the Battlefields of Vietnam - Remembering the Fallen from One Nebraska Town
The Last Full Measure tells the stories of the nine servicemen from Norfolk who died in the Vietnam War. Walton interviewed many family members, friends, and Vietnam-era veterans over the course of the last five years in order to understand and honor the lives of these men who gave the last full measure.
The main title is a phrase borrowed from Lincoln's "Gettysburg Address" delivered by the President during ceremonies to dedicate a National Cemetery at the site of the Civil War's greatest battle. "That from these honored dead" Lincoln intoned, "we take increased devotion to the cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion."
