Congressman Flood Celebrates 2026 Congressional Art Competition Winners

LINCOLN, NEBRASKA – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood announced the winner and three honorees of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition for Nebraska’s First Congressional District. The winner’s artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol alongside other Congressional Art Competition winners from across the country. The three honorees’ pieces will be displayed in Congressman Flood’s Washington, D.C. office as well as in his District Office in Lincoln, NE.

  • Winner: Janiyah Willis, Bellevue West. “Crash Landing” will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol Building.
  • Honorable Mention: Ethan Webb, Lincoln North Star. “Apple Island”  will be displayed in the Washington, D.C. office.
  • Honorable Mention: Kara Meyer, Bancroft Rosalie High School. “Day Dream” will be displayed in the District Office.
  • Honorable Mention: Lannie McDowell, Elmwood-Murdock High School. “Key to My Heart" will be displayed in the District Office.

“Year after year, I am impressed by the artwork created by students across the First District,” said Congressman Flood. “Congratulations to this year’s honorable mentions, as well as to Art Competition winner Janiyah Willis for her captivating first-place painting. I am beyond glad to display the work of our talented artists in the U.S. Capitol and in our congressional offices.”

“All submissions were reviewed and evaluated by an independent panel of art professionals. I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to each of them for generously donating their time, expertise, and dedication to this competition."
